Acupuncture is an old Chinese approach to medicine. It is the method of maintaining one’s health through the stimulation of specific points on one’s body. It is the belief that it balances two opposing forces in one’s body; what they believe in China to be the yin and the yang. It is effective when dealing with pain relief as well as post surgery.

Acupuncture involves placing hair-thin metallic needles through your skin. Most people say that there is no pain when the needles are inserted, and feel that the needles instead make them feel relaxed and calm. Each acupuncture point is a place where the nerves and muscles can be stimulated. The stimulation from the needles increases the blood flow around your body.

At your first acupuncture visit at Injury Rehab, the acupuncturist will ask a series of questions in order to obtain a full assessment of which points on your body need to be worked on and why. Depending on problem areas, treatment may take place over a few sessions. Each visit usually lasts around 30 minutes.
